Powerful Mindset Tool for Traders Every Day
Ok traders, it’s time for this episode straight from my experience AND my heart! Today’s conversation came to be as a direct result of my audio track creation habit that started in March 2023, more than 2 years ago now! I recognized that my trading struggles were a fairly direct result of my personal and mental road blocks and that I needed to more directly manage the noise in my own head. I began by writing and/or just free talking into the voice memo app on my phone, creating audio recordings of the type of content and self talk that I desired to take the lead in my mind, both when I was directly trading or otherwise.
Now, I would like tell you all about my 3 favorite recordings and why they are broken into 3 distinct pieces. It is because, in my opinion, there are 3 main parts of a trader’s day.
The first portion of a trader’s day is of course: premarket. The time that we are coming awake, focusing on our intentions as traders and on the charts. The goals of this time being peace, calm, gratitude, patience and a calm / confident nervous system. This is how I want to always feel before I get focused on the charts.
The purpose of this audio recording is to help me not get caught up in the first few minutes market open volatility and jumping before your trade fully sets up. I desire to feel calm and patient when that opening bell rings. This is a much stronger starting place than not being purposeful with this time ever is. By owning and directing my premarket thoughts, I can be so much more peaceful and able to concentrate when it is trading time in short order after this audio guidance. Once my trading session is underway, I then need to prioritize my intra-trading mindfulness. I have a second audio track for this time period that is consistently reminding me to stay present with my day, my emotions, and process as a futures day trader. When the trading session is underway, I don’t know about you, but if I’m not careful enough, I can start to forget my process too rapidly if I get caught up in noise and that is not generally helpful. But if I can stay calm, focused, and dialed into my process and live data, then I have an excellent win rate in general. That calm center is a boss place to execute from. If you know what I mean, then you know what I mean!
Here’s a fan favorite last for you all! Closing Time is my favorite track! Written and recorded first by me back in July of 2023, just before the creation of Market Mamas. Sometimes it can be so freaking hard to shut it all down at the end of a trading day. This remains my biggest hurdle with my trading days that are not clean, clear and one and done. Walking away. But this is a critical component to prioritize in an early to middle trader’s journey. Building discipline at this key time. Before we cause damage or give back our early wins that were our ideal trade setup.
Mental capital wanes over time and after a few trades in every session. This is slightly different for everyone depending on your trading style and system, but generally, most of us lose our ability to execute at our top capabilities as we give our energy away to each trade we engage in and manage. The risk is real that many days, if we keep executing later into our trading session, our outcomes will suffer. If we can quit when we are ahead or at least not under water - this is the goal at Closing Time!
Now, in this full podcast episode linked above, I review what my recordings are, how and why they came about, and how you can gain access to them. For you, your process and verbiage can look different from mine and be exactly what you need! Please, feel free to listen to mine and gain ideas and peace from them! And then make your own should you feel called. After being a trader for more than 4 years now, the growth I have experienced in the past couple years by using these tracks as I have refined them over time, it has been incredibly helpful for me!
If you don’t download mine for free by this link: https://www.market-mamas.com/audio-tracks-download, but instead write and record your own, I would highly recommend you do something to help direct the noise in your head while you trade! Even taking mine as a template and then fine tuning them for your system - that totally works too! Help yourself!
Managing that narrative in our own minds for good instead of random, evil thoughts is powerful. I am testimony to that. This habit and activity has been game changing for me. And that is the purpose of Market Mamas - to share with you all what has helped me progress from unpaid to paid as a futures day trader! There is enough room for us all at the top. And I am willing to be an open book and share my best tips and tricks that have really helped me break through ceilings one at a time relentlessly.
